A review of traditional Persian medical literature includes gum arabic among the nephroprotective herbs with a potential to reduce the kidney damage and renal toxicity of nephrotoxic plants, with some evidence in support of the activity. Kolangi 2018

A survey of traditional healers conducted in the Limpopo Province of South Africa identified Acacia senegal (13.7%) among the most commonly used medicinal plants by Bapedi for the treatment of diarrhea. Semenya 2012
