Offspring of mice exposed to gum arabic via maternal consumption (1 or 4 g/kg body weight) throughout pregnancy showed reduced body weight gain, delayed opening of the eyes, faster appearance of hair, enhanced motor reflexes, reduced fear and anxiety, slightly enhanced memory and learning abililties, with possible hypoglycemic and beneficial effects on red and white blood cell counts.
