Financial Planning for ABC's Future
ISSUE:
Page:
12

To continue its work of educating the public about the safe and responsible use of herbal medicines, ABC needs financial support. While many ways to support current operations and projects already exist, another option is planned giving, which can provide significant funding for ABC’s future stability.

By working with a planned giving specialist, provided by ABC or through the donor, a plan can be developed to benefit both the donor and ABC. Various instruments may achieve the donor’s financial goals, including outright donations, life insurance, trusts such as charitable lead trusts, charitable remainder annuity trusts, and through wills. In some cases, these instruments provide income to donors or their beneficiaries during the donor’s lifetime; others benefit ABC during the donor’s lifetime. Planned giving may offer significant estate, income, and gift tax savings, an important consideration in light of the high rate of federal estate taxes, which start at 37 percent and rise as high as 55 percent. Above all, the donor is providing long-term support and stability to ABC.

Many of these gifts are arranged with other estate planning tools to ensure a comprehensive and thoughtful arrangement for the disposition of donors’ estates and property. ABC has the resources to assist exploration of options that would not only ensure a lasting legacy, but also express support of the important educational and research efforts of ABC.
