To date, the list, which is now in its 18th version, contains 627 books and 145 journals. Of the total number of books, 214 are categorized as "initial-purchase" books, and only 82 of these are included in the "minimal core list."
As indicated in the latest issue of HerbalGram, the Complete German Commission E Monographs -- Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines was recommended by Doody's Medical Book Review Journal as the second ranked medical and allied health publication of 1998. Selection of Commission E Monographs by the Brandon/Hill list is considered standard criteria in health science libraries, according to Nancy Reynolds, Library Director, Texas Medical Association.
