Chuck Stevens, a partner in The Whole Herb Company, passed away at his home in Fairfax, California, on February 8, 1994. He was born on June 13, 1940, in Long Island, New York. He attended college at the University of Maryland, and often joked that his bartering skills were honed during his military service.

Stevens spent nearly twenty years in the herb and spice industry, working for both Fmali Herb Company and Botanicals International before joining The Whole Herb Company in 1979. He was the first secretary of the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) when it was founded in 1983. His first love was the field of botanicals and he was one of those rare people who combined true professionalism and extensive knowledge of his business with a real warmth (if personality and sense of humor. He also loved sailing and travel and had a special affinity for languages, especially Italian and Spanish, which he began studying several years ago.

His knowledge and guidance, his wealth of experience and his caring friendship will be missed by all those who knew him. both in the herb industry and at The Whole Earth Company.

Stevens is survived by his two grown children, Helen and John Stevens. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity.
