Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program - American Botanical Council

Three leading nonprofit organizations have initiated this large-scale program to educate members of the herbal and dietary supplement industry about ingredient and product adulteration. Partners include the American Botanical Council (ABC), the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP), and the University of Mississippi's National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR).

The American Botanical Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the HPTLC Association. In the document, both parties agree that research, analytical, and educational electronic content owned by the HPTLC Association will be made available via the Botanical Adulterants Prevention Program (BAPP) website. Founded in 2012, the HPTLC Association, an international, non-commercial, nonprofit association with over 100 members from 18 countries, promotes the use of high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) in plant analysis and other fields, brings together researchers from academia, industry, research, regulatory and standard-setting bodies, and contribute to the improvement of quality and quality control of traditional herbal medicines and herbal dietary (food) supplements.
